Building The Kingdom One Life At A Time

"Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD." (Genesis 4: 2b-3)

We know from the rest of the account that God rejected Cain's offering and things went quickly downhill. Abel's offering was from the best he had at the time and the Lord accepted his offering.

I have often wondered what Cain was thinking. At some point as Cain prepared his sacrifice I would imagine he thought to himself, "This should be 'good enough' for God." It wasn't acceptable Him.

The question we must ask ourselves is, "Is good enough ever acceptable to God?" The answer is NO. Our Lord expects, desires, and deserves the very best of all we have and are in life at the time.

Why? Because He has given us the very best that He has to offer. He gave his Son, Jesus Christ, for you and me. He was without sin, holy, perfect, and he died for you and me.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son (His very best), that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
